The
Valuing People documents Employment Objective states that
Partnership Boards should develop Employment Strategies,
“to enable more people with learning disabilities to participate
in all forms of employment, wherever possible in paid work, and to make
a valued contribution to the world of work”.
Surrey County
Council
- In 2002, a working
group was set up to develop the Employment Strategy.
- It undertook a
piece of research into current services offered across the whole of
Surrey, consulted with service users, carers and parents and drew up
a list of 8 key tasks that could be achieved by any team offering Employment
support.
- The strategy was
reviewed in 2003/4 and after being presented to the Partnership Board
remained roughly the same.
- The Strategy was
again reviewed in November 2004 with the help of a consultation group
and working group and has been expanded to 11 tasks with an additional
task to be explored.
- The new Strategy
was presented to the Partnership Board in May 2005
