Autism Champions

People with autistic spectrum disorders (ASD) in Surrey have identified that expertise and understanding of ASD are key things they need from services.

The Autism Champions process has been set up to respond to this. It is a county-wide network of training, mentoring and expertise in ASDs. The network supports joint work to meet the needs of people with ASD in Surrey. So far there are 39 qualified Autism Champions, and 41 Trainee Champions from all types of services in all sectors.
If you would like to get involved, you can find out more here by downloading Autism Champions in Surrey, or by emailing me, Thomas Moore, at thomas.moore@surreycc.gov.uk

You can download a list of services with qualified and trainee Autism Champions here.

The process has been a great success so far. The first round of training and mentoring has been formally evaluated. You can download the report here. The network was also cited as a national good practice example, in the Department of Health’s Better Services for People with An Autistic Spectrum Disorder document which you can download here.

If you are an Autism Champion, you can join the Champions discussion forum. Watch this space for further details!
